Abigail E Layton of Wentzville, MO was killed on Thursday, April 15, 2021 at 11:41AM in St. Charles County, Missouri. Layton is a 21-year-old woman.

FATALITY REPORT- BOTH VEHICLES WERE TRAVELLING EASTBOUND ON I-70. VEHICLE 2 WAS IN FRONT OF VEHICLE 1. DRIVER 1 MADE AN UNSAFE LANE CHANGE AND THE FRONT OF VEHICLE 1 STRUCK THE REAR OF VEHICLE 2. THE IMPACT CAUSED VEHICLE 1 TO TRAVEL OFF THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE ROADWAY. VEHICLE 1 STRUCK THE GUARDRAIL, RETURNED TO THE ROADWAY, TRAVELLED ACROSS ALL LANES OF TRAFFIC AND STRUCK THE CONCRETE MEDIAN. Injuries
Layton's injuries were fatal. Layton was taken by St Charles County Ambulance District to Ssm Health St Joseph Hospital Lake St Louis.
Vehicle Damage
The police said the damage to the 1998 Ford Ranger driven by Russo was total. It was removed by Towed By/To Crash City. The damage to the 2016 Chevrolet Impala driven by Pichler was minor. It was removed by Driven From Scene.
How To Get the Highway Patrol Report
Tpr E J McBride and Crash Team Msgt P J Kempke and Sgt J D Cox of the Missouri State Highway Patrol wrote up the report. The highway patrol assigned report number 210177516 to this crash. The highway patrol charges $6.90 for each certified report (certification required for court). The highway patrol is currently backlogged and they state on their website that you will have to wait 10 days and may have to wait an "extended period of time" beyond that for the report.
