VEHICLE 1 CAME TO REST DOWN AN EMBANKMENT FACING WEST AND VEHICLE 2 CAME TO A CONTROLLED STOP. DRIVER 1 WAS PRONOUNCED DECEASED AT 1537 HOURS BY DR. MEADE AT THE NEMAHA COUNTY HOSPITAL. ASSISTED BY SGT. A.A. HENRY (187), CPL. S.J. COOL (546), TPR. T.L. SHUPE (1432), THE ATCHISON COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT AND BURLINGTON NORTHERN RAILROAD POLICE.
Injuries
Landess's injuries were fatal. Landess was taken by Atchison/Holt Ems to Nemaha County Hospital.
Vehicle Damage
The police said the damage to the 2009 Mack Truck driven by Landess was total. It was removed by Towed By Benefiel'S. The damage to the Bnsf Locomotive driven by Peterson was minor. It was removed by Driven From The Scene.
How To Get the Highway Patrol Report
Tpr M A Harris and Sgt R V McCormick McUi of the Missouri State Highway Patrol wrote up the report. The highway patrol assigned report number 200482479 to this crash. The highway patrol charges $6.90 for each certified report (certification required for court). The highway patrol is currently backlogged and they state on their website that you will have to wait 10 days and may have to wait an "extended period of time" beyond that for the report.
