The Missouri Highway Patrol Major Crash Investigation Unit (MCIU) responded to this crash. Each member of the MCIU is a certified crash reconstructionist. Courts consider them experts in traffic crash investigations. They produce an accident reconstruction report—a detailed document with calculations, photographs, and witness statements—that may cost $100 or more. Corporal R J Wilhoit of the Missouri State Highway Patrol wrote up the report. Corporal Wilhoit was assisted by Sergeant H A Sears and Sergeant J M Toal of the Major Crash Investigation Unit Team.
