Leonard Byars Killed in a Crash on May 31, 2021 in Camden County, Missouri

Leonard R Byars of Eldridge, MO was killed on Monday, May 31, 2021 at 11:57AM in Camden County, Missouri. Byars is a 80-year-old man.

FATAL REPORT - NEXT OF KIN NOTIFIED - VEHICLE 1 RAN OFF THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE ROADWAY. DRIVER 1 OVERCORRECTED CAUSING VEHICLE 1 TO RETURN TO THE ROADWAY. VEHICLE 1 THEN RAN OFF THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE ROADWAY AND STRUCK A TREE. DRIVER 1 WAS PRONOUNCED DECEASED AT THE SCENE BY MEDICAL EXAMINER JASON FUNKE ON 05/31/2021 AT 1157. THIS IS TROOP F'S 6TH FATALITY FOR MAY AND 23RD FOR 2021. ASSISTED BY RANGER K.N. ROBERTSON (R28) AND CAMDEN COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT.

Injuries

Byars's injuries were fatal. Byars was taken to Transported To Hedges-Scott Funeral Home - Camdenton, Mo.

Vehicle Damage

The police said the damage to the 1994 Ford Explorer driven by Byars was total. It was removed by Towed By Bledsoe'S.

How To Get the Highway Patrol Report

Sgt J E Lowary of the Missouri State Highway Patrol wrote up the report. The highway patrol assigned report number 210268167 to this crash. The highway patrol charges $6.90 for each certified report (certification required for court). The highway patrol is currently backlogged and they state on their website that you will have to wait 10 days and may have to wait an "extended period of time" beyond that for the report. Further, unless you qualify under the Federal Driver's Privacy Protection Act, the report you get will have important and necessary information such as photographs, social security numbers, driver license numbers, names, addresses and telephone numbers redacted (blacked out).
